An earthquake hit Taiwan: The city of Taiwan was struck by an earthquake on Wednesday morning, and most of the damage was noticed in Hualien. This was the strongest earthquake in the past 25 years, more than 50 were injured, and 4 deaths. Rescue operations are initiated and relief measures are taking place.
The Japanese meteorological agency has said, that multiple small tsunami waves had reached the shores, but later they downgraded and updated the tsunami forecast to an advisory and the risk of tsunami has passed.
However, many civil buildings and infrastructure damages distorted the daily routine. It was observed that at least 26 buildings and more than 20 were trapped inside the rubble.
Earthquake Hit Taiwan:
This was considered the most dangerous quake in recent times in the county. In the last 25 years, this tremor was more devastating than any other. The epicenter was Hualien City but the shock reached 150 km from the city.
Impacts included not only infrastructure but many of the services like, trains were delayed however good news is no trains were damaged in the earthquake. many of the households lost the supply of electricity, it is estimated that around 80,000 people had no power supply. Traffic in almost all of the city was halted and diverted to help relief vehicles and to prevent further damage.The aftershocks were felt by people in Taipei. More than 200 aftershocks were estimated.

An official at Ishigaki said “We inspected the airport after the earthquake and the tsunami alert. There was no abnormality and our airport is not closed” and only a brief shaking was felt. Some of the flights were suspended at the main airport and a few of the incoming flights were delayed.
